Day 1 Arrival & Mangalajodi Bird Sanctuary Experience
Arrive at Biju Patnaik International Airport or Bhubaneswar Railway Station where assistance will be provided for your Odisha coastal and Eastern Ghats expedition. This marks the beginning of your scenic circuit covering Bhubaneswar, Mangalajodi, Chilika Lake, Barkul, Rambha, Gopalpur-on-Sea, Tara Tarini, Daringbadi, and Mandasaru Valley. Begin the scenic drive toward Mangalajodi Wetlands, one of India’s finest birdwatching ecosystems situated on the northern edge of Chilika Lake. Enjoy a peaceful non-motorized country boat ride through narrow wetland channels surrounded by reeds, marshes, and migratory bird habitats. During winter months, thousands of migratory birds from Central Asia and Siberia transform the wetlands into one of Eastern India’s most spectacular ecological landscapes. Later, continue toward Barkul or Rambha and check into your lake-facing resort surrounded by serene lagoon views and peaceful natural surroundings.
Day 2 Chilika Lake Cruise & Transfer to Gopalpur-on-Sea
After breakfast, proceed for a scenic motorized boat cruise across the vast waters of Chilika Lake, Asia’s largest brackish water lagoon. Visit the sacred Kalijai Temple situated on an island amidst tranquil lagoon waters. Cruise past scenic bird habitats, island landscapes, and wetland ecosystems while experiencing the calm beauty of Chilika. Later, continue the coastal drive southward toward Gopalpur-on-Sea, one of Odisha’s most peaceful and elegant seaside destinations known for its colonial heritage and uncrowded beaches. Upon arrival, check into your beachside resort and spend the evening relaxing beside the Bay of Bengal amidst sea breeze, golden sands, and coastal tranquility.
Day 3 Gopalpur Beach Leisure & Tara Tarini Temple
Wake up to a spectacular sunrise over the Bay of Bengal and enjoy a relaxed morning along the peaceful shoreline of Gopalpur Beach. Explore the remains of the old colonial jetty and enjoy the calm atmosphere of this historic port town once connected to maritime trade routes of Eastern India. Later, proceed toward the sacred Tara Tarini Temple situated atop the Kumari hills overlooking the Rushikulya River valley. The temple is regarded as one of Odisha’s most important Shakti Peethas and offers panoramic views of surrounding hills and river landscapes. Return to Gopalpur by evening and enjoy a peaceful coastal dinner experience.
Day 4 Scenic Ascent into the Eastern Ghats: Daringbadi
After breakfast, bid farewell to the coastline and begin the scenic ascent into the Eastern Ghats through winding forest roads, mountain valleys, waterfalls, and tribal settlements. Travel via the beautiful Sorada or Taptapani ghat routes toward Daringbadi, popularly known as the “Kashmir of Odisha” due to its cool climate, misty forests, and high-altitude landscapes. As the road gradually climbs toward nearly 3,000 feet, experience dramatic temperature changes and increasingly dense forest scenery. Upon arrival, check into your eco-resort surrounded by pine forests and peaceful mountain landscapes. In the evening, visit Hill View Park for panoramic valley views and a beautiful misty sunset across the Eastern Ghats.
Day 5 Pine Forests, Coffee Gardens & Hidden Waterfalls
After breakfast, proceed toward the scenic Daringbadi Pine Forest where tall pine trees, cool weather, and quiet mountain trails create a uniquely Himalayan atmosphere within Odisha. Continue toward the famous Daringbadi Coffee Plantation and black pepper gardens where local high-altitude farming landscapes can be experienced amidst lush greenery. Later, proceed through rugged forest terrain toward Midubanda Waterfall hidden deep inside dense forest surroundings. The peaceful waterfall region offers refreshing natural scenery away from commercial tourist crowds. Conclude the day at Lovers Point known for valley views, cool mountain air, and picturesque sunset landscapes.
Day 6 Offbeat Exploration of Mandasaru Silent Valley
Today features one of Odisha’s most untouched and spectacular hidden landscapes. Proceed toward Mandasaru Gorge, popularly known as the “Silent Valley of Odisha.” Surrounded by deep ravines, dense forests, echo points, waterfalls, and untouched mountain terrain, Mandasaru remains one of the least commercialized destinations in the Eastern Ghats.
