Day 1 Arrival & Scenic Ascent to Gangtok
Arrive at Bagdogra Airport or New Jalpaiguri Railway Station where assistance will be provided for your Eastern Himalayan journey. This marks the beginning of your grand circuit covering Gangtok, Tsomgo Lake, Baba Mandir, Kalimpong, Icchey Gaon, Lamahatta, Takdah, Darjeeling, Lepchajagat, Mirik, and Kurseong. Begin the scenic drive toward Gangtok following the beautiful Teesta River through mountain highways, forested valleys, suspension bridges, and Himalayan foothill landscapes. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and relax amidst the cool mountain atmosphere of Sikkim’s vibrant capital city. In the evening, enjoy a leisurely walk along the beautifully illuminated MG Marg known for its cafés, restaurants, handicraft shops, and lively Himalayan ambiance.
Day 2 Sacred Tsomgo Lake & Baba Mandir Excursion
After breakfast, proceed for a breathtaking high-altitude excursion toward Tsomgo Lake situated at nearly 12,400 feet amidst dramatic Himalayan landscapes. This sacred oval-shaped glacial lake remains frozen during winter and reflects changing mountain colors throughout the day. Continue further toward the revered Baba Harbhajan Singh Mandir, a unique shrine dedicated to an Indian Army soldier deeply respected across the region. Surrounded by rugged mountain terrain, army outposts, and snow-covered landscapes, this route offers one of the most spectacular Himalayan road journeys in Sikkim. Optional excursion toward Nathu La Pass may be arranged subject to permit availability and weather conditions. Return to Gangtok by evening.
Day 3 Gangtok to Kalimpong via Icchey Gaon
After breakfast, depart toward Kalimpong through scenic Himalayan roads and river valley landscapes. En route, stop at the beautiful Triveni View Point where the Teesta and Rangeet rivers merge amidst dramatic mountain scenery. Before reaching Kalimpong, take an offbeat detour toward Icchey Gaon, also known as the “Wishing Village.” Surrounded by dense pine forests, traditional Himalayan homes, and panoramic Kanchenjunga views, this peaceful eco-village offers one of the most serene mountain experiences in the Eastern Himalayas. Later, visit Deolo Hill offering sweeping views of the surrounding valleys and Himalayan ranges before checking into your Kalimpong hotel.
Day 4 Offbeat Forest Trails via Lamahatta & Takdah to Darjeeling
Today’s route takes you through some of the most scenic and lesser-explored Himalayan landscapes of North Bengal. Proceed toward Lamahatta Eco Park where towering pine forests, colorful Buddhist prayer flags, forest trails, and peaceful mountain viewpoints create an enchanting Himalayan atmosphere. Continue through the mist-covered tea estate landscapes of Takdah and the hanging bridge surroundings of Tinchuley known for their tranquil mountain scenery and colonial-era tea garden heritage. Arrive at Darjeeling, famously known as the “Queen of Hills,” and check into your hotel amidst cool mountain weather and colonial Himalayan charm.
Day 5 Darjeeling Sunrise & Colonial Heritage
Wake before dawn and drive toward Tiger Hill to witness one of the most iconic Himalayan sunrises where the first golden rays illuminate Mount Kanchenjunga and, on clear days, even Mount Everest in the distance. On the return journey, stop at the famous Batasia Loop and the peaceful Ghoom Monastery surrounded by Buddhist prayer flags and mountain views. Later, explore the renowned Himalayan Mountaineering Institute and the adjacent Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park famous for rare Himalayan wildlife including Red Pandas and Snow Leopards. Continue toward the Tibetan Refugee Self Help Center showcasing Tibetan handicrafts and refugee culture. Optional heritage joyride on the legendary Darjeeling Himalayan Railway may be enjoyed in the afternoon.
Day 6 Lepchajagat Forests & Mirik Valley Excursion
Escape the busy town atmosphere and proceed toward the hidden Himalayan hamlet of Lepchajagat surrounded by dense oak, pine, and rhododendron forests. This protected forest settlement offers some of the clearest and most peaceful views of the Kanchenjunga range amidst untouched mountain silence. Later, continue toward Mirik, a picturesque Himalayan valley famous for the beautiful Sumendu Lake encircled by pine forests and scenic gardens. Enjoy boating on the lake or take a relaxed walk across the iconic arched footbridge before returning to Darjeeling through tea garden landscapes and misty mountain roads.
Day 7 Kurseong Tea Gardens & Departure
After breakfast, begin the scenic descent toward the plains through the beautiful tea garden landscapes of Kurseong. Stop at Eagle's Crag offering sweeping views of the rolling tea estates, Himalayan foothills, and distant plains below. Later, proceed toward Bagdogra Airport or New Jalpaiguri Railway Station for onward departure, concluding your unforgettable Eastern Himalayan mountain and tea estate expedition.
