Day 1 Arrival in Guwahati & Transfer to Shillong
Arrive at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport or Guwahati Railway Station where assistance will be provided for your Meghalaya highland expedition. This marks the beginning of your breathtaking circuit covering Guwahati, Shillong, Cherrapunji, Nongriat, Dawki, Mawlynnong, and Jowai. Begin the scenic ascent toward Shillong, famously known as the “Scotland of the East.” En route, stop at the breathtaking Umiam Lake surrounded by pine-covered hills and tranquil landscapes. Arrive in Shillong and check into your hotel. In the evening, explore the vibrant Police Bazaar, the serene Ward’s Lake, local Khasi markets, and the thriving Shillong café culture before an overnight stay in the city.
Day 2 Shillong Highlands & Transfer to Cherrapunji
After breakfast, explore the major highland viewpoints surrounding Shillong including the panoramic Shillong Peak, the tiered Elephant Falls, and the breathtaking Laitlum Canyon viewpoint. Later proceed toward Cherrapunji, locally known as Sohra, recognized as one of the wettest places on Earth. Day 3 Living Root Bridge Trek & Nongriat Adventure
Wake up early for Meghalaya’s most iconic adventure experience. Proceed toward Tyrna Village and begin the trek toward Nongriat Village through dense rainforest terrain. The trek includes thousands of stone steps descending deep into tropical valleys to reach the legendary Double Decker Living Root Bridge created naturally over centuries by the Khasi tribes using living rubber tree roots. Experience natural root bridges, jungle trails, mountain streams, hanging bridges, and natural swimming pools along the way. Adventure enthusiasts may continue further toward the famous Rainbow Falls depending on fitness and timing. Return to Cherrapunji by evening for your overnight stay.
Day 4 Meghalaya Cave Circuit & Dawki Crystal River
After breakfast, explore the fascinating limestone cave systems of Meghalaya by visiting Mawsmai Cave and Arwah Cave.
