Day 1 Arrival & Scenic Ascent to Daringbadi

This marks the beginning of your scenic loop covering Brahmapur, Daringbadi, Mandasaru, Belghar, and Khasada Falls. Begin the scenic drive through winding forested ghat roads, tribal villages, waterfalls, and mountain valleys toward Daringbadi, Odisha’s only hill station located at an altitude of nearly 3,000 feet. As the road gradually climbs into the Eastern Ghats, enjoy changing landscapes of dense forests, misty valleys, and cool mountain weather. Upon arrival, check into your eco-resort surrounded by pine-covered hills and peaceful natural surroundings. In the evening, visit Hill View Park for panoramic views of the rolling mountain ranges before witnessing a spectacular sunset amidst the peaceful atmosphere of Nature Park.

Day 2 Pine Forests, Coffee Trails & Hidden Waterfalls

The tall pine trees, cool mountain breeze, and quiet forest trails create a distinctly Himalayan atmosphere within Odisha. Continue toward the famous Daringbadi Coffee Plantation and black pepper gardens where local cultivation techniques and high-altitude farming landscapes can be experienced amidst lush greenery. Later, proceed toward the hidden forest surroundings of Midubanda Waterfall reached through scenic forest trails and rugged natural terrain. Surrounded by dense greenery and rocky cliffs, the waterfall offers a peaceful and refreshing natural experience away from crowded tourist areas. Conclude the day at Lovers Point known for its picturesque valley views, peaceful atmosphere, and beautiful sunset landscapes.

Destination Intelligence

The Daringbadi Travel Compass

Everything you need to know to plan your journey perfectly, from tribal etiquette to navigating the Eastern Ghats.

Seasonal Rhythms

The "Kashmir of Odisha" has uniquely contrasting seasons:

  • Winter (Nov-Feb): The peak season. Temperatures often drop to near freezing, offering an authentic hill station experience in Eastern India.
  • Monsoon (Jul-Sep): The landscape turns incredibly lush and the waterfalls roar, but be prepared for heavy rains and misty roads.

Terrain & Transport

Driving through the Eastern Ghats requires patience:

  • The Ghat Roads: The ascent to Daringbadi involves sharp hairpin bends. Travel sickness medication is highly recommended.
  • Belghar Routes: The roads deeper into Mandasaru and Belghar are extremely rugged and remote. Comfort levels will shift as you enter these untouched zones.

Tribal Etiquette

Belghar is home to the indigenous Kutia Kondh tribes:

  • Respectful Conduct: When visiting the villages, act as an observer. Always seek permission before photographing the locals or their traditional homes.
  • Support Locals: Purchasing local organic coffee, turmeric, and black pepper directly supports the tribal economy.

Vehicle AC Policy

Mountain driving requires maximum engine performance:

  • Steep Inclines: To prevent the engine from overheating on the steep climbs up the Eastern Ghats, the vehicle's AC will be switched off.
  • Natural Breezes: Roll down your windows and enjoy the pure, cool pine-scented air!

Network & Comms

Connectivity drops significantly as you go deeper into the forests:

  • General Coverage: Jio and Airtel work decently in Daringbadi town.
  • Mandasaru & Belghar: Networks are highly unreliable or non-existent. Prepare to be completely disconnected in these eco-zones.
  • BSNL: BSNL remains the most reliable network in deep forest valleys.

Culinary Expectations

Food in this region is authentic, simple, and satisfying:

  • Odia Cuisine: Expect delicious local meals at your eco-resorts including Dalma, fresh fish curries, and vegetable preparations.
  • Coffee Culture: Do not leave without trying fresh coffee brewed straight from the local Daringbadi plantations.
